Heather Galipo has been pursuing her own experimental brand of post-punk as CrowJane, with today marking the arrival of her latest EP, Bound to Me. Stylistically drawing on the same subterranean dance rhythms and wispy atmospheres of 2020’s Mater Dolorosa, the EP presents five tracks of the artist’s surreal mix of darkwave styles, with the music video for “Destroy” serving as its introductory single; with footage shot by Meriel O’Connell at a wave of recent punk shows at Rubycon Records and by CrowJane at several Los Angeles venues to evoke the ambience of the late ’70s and early ’80s, she explains that “Destroy” is “kind of a love letter to the L.A. underground post-punk/synthwave/darkwave/punk/goth scene.” She goes on to say that “part of me thought about possible future generations watching this video and seeing a time capsule of this current L.A. underground scene.” Co-written with producer Paul Roessler, she goes on to describe the song as a combination of Siouxsie and the Banshees and Suicide.

The Bound to Me EP was released today, November 14, and is now available digitally via Kitten Robot Records. In addition, CrowJane will be performing an EP release show at The Moroccan Lounge in Los Angeles on Sunday, November 19. Serving as support acts will be Dildox and More Ephemerol, with tickets available now on the Moroccan Lounge website.
