The Awakening to join The Mission tourThe Awakening has announced that the band will be joining The Mission’s 30th anniversary tour, beginning with the Shepherd’s Bush Empire show in London on October 8, which also features the legendary Peter Murphy. The Awakening’s Ashton Nyte states, “Supporting The Mission now, as they celebrate 30 years of releasing beautiful music, is one of the greatest joys of my career. The Mission was most definitely one of the bands that inspired and influenced the birth of The Awakening.” He goes on to say, “Last year, I had the absolute pleasure of joining the inimitable Wayne Hussey on stage to sing ‘Butterfly on a Wheel.’ It is a song I used to attempt on acoustic guitar in my bedroom as a teenager, and singing it with the man who wrote it was a dream come true.” Ashton Nyte recently appeared on The Mission guitarist Mark Gemini Thwaite’s debut solo album, most notably on the album’s second single, “The Reaping.” The pair are currently working on an album of original material under the moniker Gemini Nyte.
The Awakening will continue on the tour throughout the month of October, with the final show taking place on October 31 in Utrecht, Holland.
