Swans gear up for North American tour and album releaseThe legendary Swans will tour North America May 14 through July 6 in conjunction with the release of the band’s newest album, To be Kind, released through Mute Records on May 12 and Young God Records on May 13. Norwegian singer/songwriter Jenny Hval will support Swans through the May dates, with experimental/postpunk act Xiu Xiu taking over during the June and July dates. To be Kind, produced by Swans founder Michael Gira and recorded in Texas, features guest artists Little Annie, St. Vincent, label mate Cold Specks, and Bill Rieflin. The album was in part funded through sales of the live 2-CD setNot Here/Not Now, available exclusively from the band’s website. The album has already received rave reviews from Time Magazine, Spin Magazine, and The Wall Street Journal.
Swans, led by Michael Gira, formed in 1982 and, after disbanding in 1997, returned with the critically acclaimed albums My Father Will Guide Me Up a Rope to the Sky (2010) and The Seer (2012).
