Swans announce new tour, new albumThe legendary Swans has announced an upcoming US and UK tour, set for May and June 2014. The tour follows the release of the band’s newest album, To be Kind, released through Mute Records on May 12 and Young God Records on May 13. The US dates begin in Washington, DC on May 15 at the Black Cat, while the UK dates begin in Manchester on May 22 at Academy 2. The first few dates are currently available for pre-order through Ticketfly.
To be Kind, produced by Swans founder Michael Gira and recorded in Texas, features guest artists Little Annie, St. Vincent, label mate Cold Specks, and Bill Rieflin. The album was in part funded through sales of the live 2-CD setNot Here/Not Now, available exclusively from the band’s website.
In related news, Michael Gira will launch a solo European tour in March.
Swans, led by Michael Gira, formed in 1982 and, after disbanding in 1997, returned with the critically acclaimed albums My Father Will Guide Me Up a Rope to the Sky (2010) and The Seer (2012).
