Stiff Valentine calls it quitsVancouver industrial/rock group Stiff Valentine has announced its dissolution in September following a farewell tour in August. Band leader Chris DeMarcus has released a statement via Deathproof Music, stating, “My heart isn’t in it anymore” and citing logistical problems of touring with large amounts of equipment – “We don’t have the cash to buy onto tours with so much live instrumentation.”
He also went on to state that while Stiff Valentine has roots in industrial music, “we could never find a home there,” and that he considered the music to be “completely secondary.”
Stiff Valentine’s “Goodbye” tour is currently being booked with California act Slave Unit. DeMarcus’ full statement on the departure of Stiff Valentine can be read at the Deathproof Music website at http://deathproofmusic.com/2014/05/27/stiff-valentine-calling-it-quits-booking-final-tour.
The band released its last album, Empire of Illusion in 2013 via WTII Records, followed by the digital-only Empire of Death remix companion in early 2014.
