Legendary post-punk act Public Image Ltd. has announced the follow up album to 2012’s This is PiL, scheduled for release on September 4, titled What the World Needs Now. Recorded at Wincraft Studio (the studio owned by renowned blues/rock musician Steve Winwood) and funded by the band alone, What the World Needs Now – PiL’s tenth studio album – will be preceded by the lead single “Double Trouble,” to be released on August 21 on 10-inch vinyl with a B-side and bonus track. Front man John Lydon (also known to the world as Johnny Rotten of The Sex Pistols) stated, “Buy now while stocks last.”
In addition, Public Limage Ltd. has announced a tour of Europe and the UK, lasting 23 dates. The tour will kick off in Glasgow, Scotland in September to coincide with the album release, continuing through Manchester, Bristol, London, and other major cities.
