Primitive Race has premiered a new music video for the song “Give Up the Ghost” on Alternative Revolt Magazine, marking the industrial collective’s third video release from the self-titled debut album. “Give Up the Ghost,” which features vocals from Andi Sex Gang and was co-written with Dave “Rave” Ogilvie and Mark Gemini Thwaite, was directed by longtime Sex Gang Children photographer G.O.D. Of the video, Andi states, “It was interesting to hear the end result from all the raw ingredients shaped into the Primitive Race vision,” detailing his process as using “instruments like brush strokes on a painting. I don’t like to follow the usual rules when it comes to applying instruments to music; for me, each piece of music is unique and the instrumental application and layering must reflect that. I just allow the music speak to me and then the music speaks for itself.” Of his collaboration with Primitive Race, Andi continues, “It was a good opportunity to help partake in someone else’s vision; it takes you out of your own familiar arena and into another perspective and that makes for a damn good challenge.”
Primitive Race – also featuring performances by Graham Crabb of Pop Will Eat Itself, Exageist’s Erie Loch, Tommy Victor of Prong and Danzig, among others – was released on August 7, following the Long in the Tooth collaborative EP with PIG, both now available via Metropolis Records. September 25 will see the release of the Follow the Leader EP, containing two B-sides and remixes by Andi Sex Gang, Roughhausen, Ego Likeness, Caustic, and GoFight.
