Renowned bassist, Chapman Stick player, and vocalist Nick Beggs has announced the formation of a new band, The Mute Gods. According to Beggs, who has most recently been involved in Porcupine Tree front man Steven Wilson’s solo band and in legendary guitarist Steve Hackett’s live band, “I wanted to put a band together as an outlet for the material I’ve written during the past two years, whilst touring with Steven Wilson and Steve Hackett.” Joining him in The Mute Gods will be Steven Wilson drummer Marco Minneman and Steve Hackett keyboardist Roger King.
The band has signed with InsideOut Music, with plans to release a debut album in January, 2016. “I’m excited to be working with InsideOut on this very dynamic project,” says Beggs. The Mute Gods has also launched a website with plans to update with new content and information on the band’s formation in the coming months.
In addition to his work with Wilson and Hackett, Beggs has contributed his skills to the likes of Rick Wakeman, Tina Turner, Toyah Willcox, Gary Numan, Alphaville, Howard Jones, and first came to prominence as a member of Kajagoogoo with vocalist Limahl, scoring a hit single in 1983 with “Too Shy.”
