As the final album to be released by the experimental/post-punk band’s current incarnation, a release date of June 17 has been announced for Swans’ latest outing, titled The Glowing Man. The album will be available internationally via Mute Records in double CD and deluxe triple gatefold vinyl editions, with a double CD/DVD release to feature a 2015 Swans live performance. In addition, a North American tour is currently planned in support of The Glowing Man, beginning on July 6 in Philadelphia, PA and continuing until September 16 in Phoenix, AZ; a tour of Europe will subsequently follow in October. Of the lineup, founder Michael Gira states, “I’ll continue to make music under the name Swans, with a revolving cast of collaborators. I have little idea what shape the sound will take, which is a good thing. Touring will definitely be less extensive, I’m certain of that! Whatever the future holds, I’ll miss this particular locus of human and musical potential immensely: Norman Westberg, Kristof Hahn, Phil Puleo, Christopher Pravdica, Thor Harris, and myself mixed in there somewhere, too.” Other featured musicians on The Glowing Man include renowned drummer and multi-instrumentalist Bill Rieflin (MINISTRY, KMFDM, King Crimson, Pigface), vocalist Jennifer Gira, and cellist Okkyung Lee. Pre-orders and additional tour dates can be found on the Young God Records website.
