Moog Music and Sony Masterworks to release new album produced by Craig LeonSony Masterworks is honoring pioneering inventor Dr. Robert Moog with a new album to commemorate the tenth annivesary of his passing, as well as the Moog Music company’s reinstatement of large format modular synthesizers, with a new album, Bach to Moog. Continuing in the tradition of the 1968 album Switched on Bach by Wendy Carlos, Bach to Moog will showcase the music of Johann Sebastian Bach as performed on reissued and modern generation Moog synthesizers, produced by composer Craig Leon. In addition, this album will be the first to be recorded using the newly reissued Moog System 55, duplicating and modernizing the original modular synthesizers of the ’70s; this along with several other Moog synthesizers will be used both as solo instruments within an orchestral ensemble as well as a processor of other instruments.
Besides being a well known producer and classical arranger, whose credits include The Ramones, Talking Heads, Blondie, Luciano Pavarotti, Joshua Bell, and Sir James Galloway, Leon also released two synthesizer albums – Nommos and Anthology of Interplanetary Folk Music Vol. 1, both of which were recently rissued.
Also featured on the album will be solo violinist Jennifer Pike with the Sinfonietta Cracovia.
Bach to Moog is scheduled for release on May 4, with pre-orders now available via
