Miami Mayfair Hotel & Spa celebrates 30 years with '80s hitsTo celebrate its 30th birthday, the Mayfair Hotel & Spa is hosting a series of new romantic packages based on hit songs featured in the ’80s television show, Miami Vice. Created by Anthony Yerkovich and executive produced by filmmaker Michael Mann, Miami Vice, which also celebrates its 30th birthday this year, “was the first TV program to broadcast in stereo and to feature current hit songs in every episode,” according to the hotel’s general manager Axel Gasser, spending an average of $10,000 per episode for the rights to use contemporary music, providing a boost to artists and labels. Each of the hotel’s packages is designed to feature a particular musical style, from ’80s metal to synthpop to new wave; among the hit songs serving as a basis are The Pointer Sisters’ “Jump! For My Love” and Billy Idol’s “Flesh for Fantasy.”The Mayfair’s packages are subject to availability and to the booking terms and conditions detailed on the hotel’s website. Part of the Schlesinger family’s longstanding portfolio of hospitality, the Mayfair Hotel & Spa’s 30th birthday heralds the completion of more than $10 million in renovations.
