King Crimson drummer Pat Mastelotto and Porcupine Tree bassist Colin Edwin have joined forces in a new band, O.R.k., with plans to release a debut album, Inflamed Rides. Pre-orders for the album are available via the band’s MusicRaiser page, “to release our music directly, without going through the traditionally accepted channels of record label, publicist, etc.” The band also plans to launch a remix competition, in which the winner will be featured on a limited edition CD of the album. “We know the world is full of really creative people,” states the band, “and we’re looking forward to sharing our art in a way which might encourage some of this creativity to manifest in a way which we can’t foresee.”
In addition, the band has released a music video for the track “Pyre,” as well as a stream of “Jellyfish,” both from Inflamed Rides.
Rounding out the band are Obake vocalist Lorenzo Esposito (a.k.a. Lef) and guitarist Carmelo Pipitone.
