Laurie Anderson and Giorgio Moroder join MoogFest 2014MoogFest, the five day festival honoring pioneering synthesist and inventor Dr. Robert Moog and the legacy of the analog synthesizer, has added experimental musician and performance artist Laurie Anderson, along with record producer and composer Giorgio Moroder, and score composer Cliff Martinez to the 2014 guest lineup. Anderson, Moroder, and Martinez will be joining several futurists, synthesists, inventors, scientists, and entrepreneurs in a special series of daytime conferences, presentations, and film screenings, as well as art installations featuring new media and interactive technologies. Nighttime programming includes live performances by numerous electronic and innovative artists in over 10 venues across the city.
The festival will be held in Asheville, NC from April 23-27, 2014. General admission and VIP tickets for Phase 1 are now on sale via the Moogfest website.
Anderson, whose husband was the late innovative rock musician Lou Reed, is also renowned for her various musical inventions, including a violin bow utilizing magnetic tape instead of horsehair, as well as a baton-like MIDI controller talking stick.
Moroder is a multiple Academy Award and Grammy Award winning composer and songwriter whose credits include such films as Scarface and Cat People. He is also known as a pioneer of disco, having collaborated with the likes of Blondie and Donna Summer.
Martinez’s score credits include films like Drive, Traffic, Solaris, and Spring Breakers, on which he collaborated with Skrillex.
