Grace Jones album to be reissuedJamaican singer/actress Grace Jones will reissue her 1981 new wave album Nightclubbing on April 28 for the first time ever as a deluxe edition, featuring bonus 12-inch mixes and rarities. Among the rarities are two newly discovered tracks from the original sessions, including a cover of the Gary Numan/Tubeway Army classic “Me! I Disconnect from You” and the (Long Version) of “Feel Up.” Still widely considered Jones’ best album to date, Nightclubbing, named for and featuring her cover of the Iggy Pop/David Bowie song of the same name, has been remastered from the original analog tapes in New York and will be available in CD, a 2-CD deluxe edition, a 2-LP 180g deluxe edition vinyl (cut at Abbey Road Studios), blu-ray audio, and digital formats. A bonus 12-inch will be available for Record Store Day on April 19, featuring the previously unreleased tracks.
Grace Jones began performing in 1973 and has been cited as an inspiration for artists such as Annie Lennox, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Basement Jaxx, and many more. Outside of music, Jones has appeared in numerous films, including Conan the Destroyer and A View to a Kill.
