Fear Factory announces new albumThe cyber/metal powerhouse of Fear Factory has announced the worldwide release of a new album, titled Genexus, via Nuclear Blast Entertainment on August 7. Co-produced by longtime collaborator Rhys Fulber – best known for his work in Front Line Assembly – and mixed by Andy Sneap, this follow up to 2012’s The Industrialist marks the Los Angeles band’s ninth studio album. “While careful not to replicate ourselves, this album still has a very classic Fear Factory vibe that we feel will appease both old and new fans,” states guitarist and co-founder Dino Cazares. He continues, “The soul of the machine is still intact, and that’s me and Burton.”
In addition, vocalist Burton C. Bell states, “It’s classic Fear Factory sound, the sound that fans have always expected, but I think because we are taking our time, the songs are really well crafted.” Additional personnel involved in the production of Genexus include Damien Rainaud and Giuseppe Bassi, whom Cazares credits for “keys and pre-production.” Of the album’s subject matter, Bell says, “It’s bringing the concept of man versus machine around again, but this time, the way I’m thinking about the machine is that it’s fully cognitive and fully understands where its place is and what it needs to do. So the machine has very human qualities now.”
Fear Factory will begin touring with Coal Chamber in July, with tickets going on sale on Friday, May 22. Bassist Tony Campos – currently of MINISTRY and formerly of Prong, Static-X, and Soulfly – will be joining the band following the recent departure of Matt DeVries, along with drummer Mike Heller.
