English synthpop duo Erasure will release its sixteenth album, The Violet Flame, on September 23, followed by a worldwide tour. Following last year’s release of Snow Globe, The Violet Flame will be preceded by a 10-track single in July. Fans can pre-order the album starting May 28 through PledgeMusic. The album will be available alongside exclusive Erasure bundles including single, deluxe, and box set formats as well as a VIP ticket bundle featuring the album, premium ticket, and meet-and-greet with the band.
The Violet Flame Tour then begins in Miami on September 12 and circles the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, and Denmark, including a special Halloween performance at The Palms in Las Vegas before concluding with two New Year’s Eve shows at New York’s Terminal 5 on December 30 and 31. Tickets go on-sale May 30 for Europe and June 7 for the U.S. Erasure will perform at CarFest in the U.K. on August 1 and 22, in both Chesire and Hampshire.
Formed 30 years ago, Vince Clarke and Andy Bell of Erasure scored numerous influential and chart-topping pop anthems of the ‘80s and ‘90s through to today. Erasure’s popularity recently surged in 2010 with the inclusion of the 1994 hit track “Always” on the [adult swim] flash game Robot Unicorn Attack, from the album I Say I Say I Say.
