Dean Garcia announces new collaboration, release date for albumAlt./electro producer Dean Garcia and Preston Maddox of post-punk band Bloody Knives have announced the July 29 release of What We Want, the inaugural LP from their collaborative project STFU, with the the title track as the first single off of the new album. According to Maddox, What We Want is, “like being immersed in the pollution of our dystopian future where everything is covered in layers and layers of filth.” Garcia, who is best known as half of the alt./electro/rock duo Curve and electro/shoegaze duo SPC ECO with daughter Rose Berlin, has worked with the Eurythmics, Mick Jagger, Jeff Beck, and KMFDM’s Sascha Konietzko and Lucia Cifarelli among others. He describes the album as, “A surprising, inspiring, and joyful set of events and recordings.” Produced and mixed by Garcia, What We Want will be released on Bandcamp and will feature a “hidden song” called “Paralyzed,” which was also featured on M A D album Slow Mo with Steve Monti (Curve, Jesus & Mary Chain)
Maddox will also be playing bass on Conflict’s upcoming U.S. tour.
