Daniel Miller to receive Pioneer Award at AIM 2012Mute label founder Daniel Miller will receive the Pioneer Award at the AIM Awards 2012. The AIM (Association of Independent Music) Pioneer Award is reserved to recognize “a visionary independent label founder,” with the recipient selected from a panel of music editors, journalists, DJs, and producers. Miller, who founded Mute in 1978, has recently been hard at work reacquiring Mute’s older back-catalog (such as Depeche Mode) from EMI/Universal after separating from EMI some years ago.

The AIM Awards will be held on October 29 at The Brewery in East London.
