The Cure announces new album, DVD, and Trilogy showsThe Cure has announced its 14th album, tentatively titled 4:14 Scream, which was recorded during the sessions for the band’s 2008 album, 4:13 Dream. While a specific release date has not yet been given, the band states that it will be released in the next few months. The album announcement was in part a celebration of the band’s sell out gigs for Teenage Cancer Trust. The sellout was based on fan club pres-sales, prompting the band to add an extra date at London’s Royal Albert Hall, to take place on March 28 and 29. This occasion marks the fifth time in the past decade that The Cure has performed indoor concerts in the UK.
Additionally, a new live concert DVD is also expected to be released, as well another set of shows in the vein of the band’s “Trilogy” sets sometime at the end of 2014. This continues The Cure’s trend of performing three albums in their entirety; in 2002, the band performed Pornography, Disintegration, and Bloodflowers, while 2011 featured Seventeen Seconds, Faith, and the Three Imaginary Boys debut.
