cEvin Key debut album to be reissuedFirst released in 1998 and long out-of-print, Music for Cats – the debut solo album from Skinny Puppy founder cEvin Key – will be reissued by Artoffact Records in a double-LP vinyl edition to be released on May 12. Now available for pre-order in see-thru green and standard black vinyl editions, the album is limited to 550 copies with a gatefold sleeve containing new photos taken by Key; blue and pink vinyl editions had sold out within 48 hours of the announcement. Music for Cats – the title being a direct reference to the earlier dissolution of Skinny Puppy – was notable for featuring various guest performers, including Genesis P-Orridge (Throbbing Gristle, Psychic TV), Phil “Philth” Western, Mark Spybey (Dead Voices on Air), and Dwayne Goettel (Skinny Puppy), all of whom would also collaborate with Key in Download and other related projects. Sample recordings of Key’s cats were also featured on the album.
Digital editions of the album are still available via Metropolis Records.
