Blixa Bargeld and Teho Teardo have announced the release of their second collaborative album, Nerissimo (the Italian superlative for “the blackest”), on Specula Records. According to the artists, “As the color black contains all colors, the musiccontains a multitude of possibilities;” with lyrics written and sung in German, English, and Italian, Nerissimo sees the duo utilizing a variety woodwinds and classical string instruments. In addition, the cover artwork features Bargeld and Teardo in a scene inspired by a painting called “The Ambassadors” by Hans Holbe in the Younger, the imagery and themes of the album relating to philosophy, religion, mortality, and illusion.
Nerissimo will be available on April 22 in multiple formats, including CD, vinyl, and digital download. Best known as the founder and front man for avant-garde industrial group Einstürzende Neubauten and a one time member of Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds, Bargeld began working with Teardo in 2013, having released their Still Smiling debut in June of 2013. The pair will be touring throughout Europe from April 3 to June 15; tour dates can be found on the artists’ website.
