The second installment of the fantasy/musical series The Devil’s Carnival from Repo! The Genetic Opera creator Terrance Zdunich and director Darren Lynn Bousman, titled Alleluia!, will be kicking off with a traveling circus tour. The tour will premiere in Los Angeles on August 11 and continue through the U.S. in fall. Picking up where The Devil’s Carnival: Episode One left off, and featuring music by Zdunich and Saar Hendelman, Alleluia! continues the story of Lucifer’s plot to wage war on heaven, with a greater emphasis on the latter in this episode. Described by Zdunich as “Clark Gable on acid,” heaven will be depicted in a style reminiscent of the Golden Age of Hollywood. “You have fancy suits and everything is tailored, an air that everything is perfect and glamorous, but meanwhile in the backdrop of that era you also have the Great Depression.” In addition, Bousman states, “God and his angels are a whole lot darker than Lucifer and his carnies.” Unlike the first episode, Alleluia! is a full-length feature.
Returning from the first episode are goth/industrial icons Nivek Ogre and Emilie Autumn, along with actors Bill Moseley, Dayton Callie, and Paul Sorvino (as God), with newcomers Jimmy Urine of Mindless Self Indulgence, Tech N9ne, the Butcher Babies, Barry Bostwick, and David Hasselhoff. Tickets and tour dates are available on The Devil’s Carnival website. Pre-orders for the soundtrack to Alleluia! The Devil’s Carnival, releasing August 7 on Cleopatra Records, are available on Amazon and iTunes.
